Extraordinary Liaison Forum on European Sectoral Social Dialogue – 30th Sept. 2010, Brussels

EASE and UNI Europa Sport participated in the Extraordinary Liaison Forum meeting on the functioning and potential of European sectoral social dialogue organised on 30th September 2010 by the European Commission.

It gathered social partners' representatives and delegates from European Sectoral Social Dialogue Committees (ESSDC) as well as academic experts, policy makers and representatives from Member States and international organisations.

The discussions during the forum were based on the Commission Staff Working Document on the functioning and potential of European sectoral social dialogue, which aims to take stock of the main achievements of the European sectoral social dialogue and to review the functioning of the ESSDC. It highlights the dynamics, outcomes and potential impact of the committees' work since 1998, and identifies possible improvements with a view to extending the scope and quality of the consultation and negotiation processes.

The document corresponds to EASE vision of European social dialogue and evokes the creation of a ESSDC for the whole sport and active leisure sector.

The Forum was an opportunity to announce EASE and UNI Europa joint submission to the European Commission on 29th September 2010 of their replies to the questionnaires on representativeness, filled out by their national members, along with their request for the establishment of a ESSDC for the sport and active leisure sector.
